The two carefully walked out of the room and into the hallway. Elias kept turning to his fairy friends whispering incoherent things. Silvia was just confused to see Elias talking to himself. Whispering back, she asked
“Who are you talking to?” Elias shot a glance at Silvia, smiling “Just some friends who’ll keep Cora away from us until we can return her to normal.” Silvia shook her head
“You really are crazy.” Elias ignored the statement as he sent his fairy friends off into the house to distract Cora. Slowly making their way to the steps, they caught a glance of a familiar black hat right below the banister. They froze for a while, trying not to be noticed by the predator. Another clacking sound could be heard from the kitchen area, leading Cora in the opposite direction of their own. Elias let out a sigh of relief, but Silvia was a bit confused. She didn’t question who made the noise, and kept following Elias closely behind. Crossing to the other side of the house, the brunette biracial boy carefully made his way into a room unfamiliar to Silvia.
“What is this place?” Silvia asked curiously. A flick of a switch flooded the room with light, revealing a much larger selection of books and random tools. He started gathering rope and a golden cross, setting the pile next to Silvia. While he searched, Silvia picked up the items that they were going to use.
“It’s my father’s storage room. He keeps all sorts of objects in here related to magic.” During his search, he came across an unusually large closet. Opening it, he found a familiar orange-clad Korean sitting in the closet, letting loose a sudden scream. Elias screamed at his scream, and Silvia was startled by both their screams. She gravely turned to the door, still wide open.
“Cora’s going to find us for sure.” She stated in a grim tone. Shutting the door with an accidental slam, she spread her arms and back across its surface. Staring at the two boys, panicked, she said again “We have to hide!”
Silvia picked up the materials Elias placed next to her and hid in the first closet she could find. Elias stumbled into the closet with Hwan Yoong, shutting the door behind him.
“What’s going on!” Hwan Yoong asked in a panicked tone. Elias shushed the Korean as they heard the door swing open once again. One of the biracial boy’s fairy friends floated into the closet dejected.
“I’m sorry Elias, we couldn’t keep her away.” He smiled, whispering to her in a small voice “It’s not your fault, blame the dum rumpe here.” He said pointing a thumb at Hwan Yoong. Offended, he asked
“No its not, you scared me! And who are you talking to?” before Elias could answer, their door creaked open, revealing Cora to them. In a cruel smile, she said
“I found you, now your-“but before she could finish, a golden cross hit her across the head. She screeched back in pain, hissing at her assailant, running out of the room.
“Honestly you two, can’t you keep your traps shut?” Silvia asked sternly, leaning the golden cross across her shoulder nonchalantly glaring at the boys. The two stared at her in awe. Elias was especially impressed. She had the guts to stand up to a possessed Cora when they were at the mercy of her. The biracial boy’s admiration for his crush only grew at the display of her bravery. Climbing out of the closet, the pair thanked her gratefully.
“I thought I was goner there for a second, thanks a lot Silvia.” Hwan Yoong gleamed a smile of relief. Elias sighed and thanked her normally. “Yeah, now where’s that holy water?” Silvia asked abruptly wanting to get the worshipping over with.
“Oh yeah, I think it was suppose to be in this closet.” Elias remarked, turning back to the closet Hwan Yoong was hiding in. After looking through it thoroughly, he found what he was looking for. Pulling out the holy water, Elias stated
“Hopefully, this should be enough to stop Cora.” The trio stood there in a moment of silence before asking “How are we gonna tie Cora down?” Hwan Yoong asked. Silvia stiffened her posture in a proud pose, declaring “I can handle her. She’s no match for me.” in a proud voice. Elias shook his head, mentioning
“I don’t know about that. Your both equal in strength. And with Cora being possessed, she’s twice as strong as she usually is. We’re going to need some more muscle if we want to stop her.“ The Korean started flexing stating “I can take her down easy.” In a way to try and impress Silvia, which didn’t work. “Even with our strength and Silvia’s combined, I don’t think we could handle her.” Elias said. “Besides, someone has to perform the ritual.”
“And don’t you spend your time playing those MMORPG games anyway? How does that give you muscle?” Silvia remarked in a snarky tone. Hwan Yoong stopped flexing, replying “Cause I’m just that awesome.” Returning an equally snarky smirk.
“Whatever guys. I hate to say this but, I think we need to call for some help.” The two paused for a second, interrupted by Hwan Yoong complaining “You don’t mean to call Roger or Gerhard are you?” Elias sighed “I heard from my father that they’re stuck doing something else. But I know some other people who are available tonight.”
Hwan Yoong froze.
“You don’t mean to…” he began. “No, of course not. Just Melati and Rodrigo. They’re not doing anything tonight, and Mai will be safe.” Elias assured the Korean, who let out a sigh of relief. Silvia asked “So, do you have their numbers?” the biracial boy stood there, hanging his head in shame. “No, just yours and Cora’s. But I’m sure Cora does.” Elias turned to Hwan Yoong asking “Unless you happen to have theirs?” in which the Korean nodded. “I have Melati’s number, maybe she’ll be with Rodrigo too.” Flipping out his cell phone, he brought up Melati’s number in his contacts, calling her.
----------
Melati and Rodrigo were playing a video game at Mai’s house, who sat there silently watching their game.
“I’m so gonna beat you this time.” Melati triumphantly stated as she swerved her character into Rodrigo’s car, knocking him off track. “Yeah right, after I unleash my shells at you!” pressing a button, a red shell flew toward Melati’s car, knocking her out and giving Rodrigo enough time to pass her. “Aw shit! Come on come on come one!” she egged her character on as it drove off, trying to catch up with Rodrigo’s car. Suddenly, her cell phone went off. Averting her attention from the screen, she handed Mai the control.
“Could you beat his butt for me while I take this call?” Mai nodded, taking the control from her. Melati stood up and answered her phone. “Kumusta? Melati speaking.” She said into the phone.
“Thank god you picked up. Is Rodrigo there?” Melati turned to Rodrigo, who was getting his but whooped by Mai. “Yeah, he’s here, but he’s busy.” She said, until a screech of “no” was released from the Brazilian-Argentinean boy who lost to Mai.
“Nevermind, he’s available. What do you wanna ask him?” she asked her Korean friend who tentatively responded
“Er, nothing. But…would you and Rodrigo come over to Eli’s house like, right away? We kind of need you.”
“Sure, but why?” Rodrigo and Mai stared at Melati while she was speaking to Hwan Yoong. After a couple more questions and a bit of small talk, she hung up with a farewell. Turning to Rodrigo, she said “This is going to be hard to explain…”
“So Cora got possessed, and now they need our strength to stop her? Why didn’t he call Roger or Gerhard then?” Melati shrugged as Mai stated
“If your going, then I’m coming too. Hwan Yoong is making a fool of himself without me, most likely.” She sighed, annoyed. Melati looked at Rodrigo, who said “Didn’t he say that he didn’t want you to come?” she asked her friend.
“Because of a little ghost that doesn’t exist? Yeah right. Besides, Silvia is there too, it’d be nice to talk to her for a change, I haven’t seen her in a while.” Mai replied, crossing her arms. Melati and Rodrigo knew that it was almost impossible to win an argument against Mai. Begrudgingly, the two agreed to take Mai with them.
“If that’s the case, just be careful when your around us. Okay?” Rodrigo said as Mai dismissed it. “Whatever, lets just go.
